Background

My Camp is the summer family that every child and teenager would love to be part of. A company that counts 20 years, with experience in providing activities to these children and teenagers that every year step foot in their summer camps. Even though they also hold school programs – like finalist trips -, their real strength is summer camps.

In 2018, My Camp told us they wanted our help to give a new dynamic to their social media channels and website, to make more children happy during their summer holidays. Since then, every year, our Digital Marketing puts their superhero suits on and feature the management and content creation of My Camp’s Facebook and Instagram – not forgetting about Influencer Marketing Campaigns -, as well as Google Ads Campaigns. More than providing services, we help My Camp provide happy days.

Challenge

Even though their success in 2018 can’t be compared to the amplitude the company has now, by that time, My Camp was already one of the most famous and praised summer camps in Portugal. The innovation that characterizes their activities and infrastructures has always kept company to their growth, which means that the Flybizz Agency’s challenge was not it improving the summer camps themselves, but in displaying them to the world, in the best way we could. How would we compete with other national summer camps? What about the international ones?

As usual, we started by studying their national and international competition, trying to uncover their strong features in the digital world. Are their websites optimized? Do they provide user-friendly navigation? Which keywords do they use on search engines to attract new registrations? What type of images and communication style help them conquer the loyalty of the young target on social media? Answering these questions was the first big challenge that we placed in front of our Agency because only by doing so we would be able to progress and find the best digital strategy for My Camp.

The world of tourist entertainment for children and young people

All across the world of summer camps and school programs, the key to success is knowing how to communicate with children and young people in the way that this target requires. We realized from the beginning that the first premise – which is not as obvious as it may seem – is informal communication. Even though parents are the ones who make the final decision, it’s their children who follow My Camp on social media and who are the main target of My Camp’s marketing actions. Talking to them in the second person singular, playing games, creating challenges, encourage physical contact (before coronavirus) and, above all, being part of their jokes is the best way not only to lead them into asking their parents to make their first registration at My Camp but also to promote customer loyalty.

Optimization and capture

After studying the market in which we were about to perform, we started by optimizing My Camp’s website, in the Portuguese version and all other International versions. Only after this step we could start capturing leads through Google Ads Campaigns, planned to impact the young, but also their parents. By focusing on Google Search and Google Display Campaigns, we placed our bets on keywords that master this type of market on search engines and proceed to the creative process, by drawing images that catch the eye of any father or son.

In contrast to the strategy adopted by many companies in this field, My Camp’s social media do not focus on capturing new registrations. Here, the brand is simply authentic, close to the young target and focused on turning them into their biggest fans and ambassadors. Besides communication, in these channels, we focus on reinforcing their best activities and infrastructures that their space can provide, from where every member of this summer family leaves feeling more complete and, above all, happy. Friendship is My Camp’s motto and our Agency helps them giving potential to it, every day.

Clarify your questions

The Influencer flame

In 2019, we launched a new challenge to My Camp, to expand the brand’s name near the parent's target: a partnership with Portuguese influencer moms on social media. 2 years and counting with this partnership, which brought a brand new audience to My Camp and boosted the number of new parents wanting to make reservations for their children, all due to their testimonies and reports of their children’s experience.

In a world that’s getting more and more digital, companies like My Camp are winning more importance, by allowing the children and young people of the future to keep their feet on the ground.
