In March 2020, in the middle of a full quarantine due to the new coronavirus, a new lead came to the Flybizz Agency and told us: we want to change the world of healthcare in Portugal. So we talked, discussed and came to the conclusion that we were about to initiate the development of the biggest and more innovative software for online medical appointment scheduling, which is the same as stating that we are pioneers of a project ready to bring users and healthcare professionals closer across the entire country. To this client, the vision of the future is not in tomorrow, but in the present day. Today, more than ever, in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, this software offers us the reality of a healthcare system increasingly more connected with technology and information.
We recognized from the beginning that this wasn’t going to be a piece of cake, which also means that it would be, with no doubt, a challenging project. Among all the features that this software required, the one that would become its Unique Selling Proposition – and our biggest challenge – would be the Telemedicine. How could we develop a platform with online offices, in which healthcare professionals could host their virtual appointments?
The second biggest challenge would be to create a navigation experience accessible to users of any age, knowing from the start that older users are more resistant to the world of technology. Our Digital Marketing department also took place in this stage, ready to demystify this platform to this target.
First step: getting to know the competition in other countries - since this was the first platform of this kind in Portugal – and understanding how the healthcare and care provision world functions in our country. The first difficulty would be the dozens of medical specialities in the platform (from general medicine, dentist and even veterinary), which turned our market study into a more complex business. In conversation with one of the ambassadors of the project – which holds office as a dentist – we realized how they dreamt about all the dynamics of it and how we would kick the project in.
By studying the big platforms of online medical appointment scheduling developed in other countries, we immediately realized that the navigation would need to be the most intuitive as possible, making the user’s journey easier during the process of scheduling a new appointment. To help users in this process, we also built a FAQ’s section available right in the homepage, so that users with more doubts and less digital literacy wouldn’t abandon the website and always choose this platform when the need to schedule an appointment urges.
Besides Telemedicine and usability, the possibility of users checking the healthcare professional’s agenda was a crucial element, by making the scheduling process easier and eliminating unnecessary steps. Only with this competitors analysis, we were able to draw the first dashboards of the platform and project the future.
Between sketches, drafts, lines and colours, we’ve projected the physical and psychological identity of the brand through a combination of innovation, healthcare and care provision trends and the client’s expectations. Its name reflects the product in its better shape and characterizes the platform with the best that a global world has to offer: communication, facility and speed.
Keeping in mind that the main goal of the platform would be to provide online medical appointment scheduling, face-to-face or online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the focus of the project has always been Telemedicine. This would have to be the first platform in Portugal that allows its users to schedule and attend medical appointments from home and on any day of the Week, whether on weekends, whether on holidays. We’ve developed a system from Scratch that creates online medical offices, from which healthcare professionals can invite their users so they enter into an online private room.

Besides Telemedicine, the platform was built keeping in mind other features: the healthcare professional’s online agenda, that can be managed from any place and in the way that suits them better; SMS 24, by sending text messages to users on the day before the appointment, which helps to reduce the number of people who miss appointments without letting the healthcare professionals know; more free time (to everyone) and more money (to the healthcare professional); disclosure of the names of all the healthcare professionals across the country, in the various means of communication of the brand; safety to everyone, the key element that makes this software so successful.
Even though the client believes that the future is today, there are still so many steps to take tomorrow. The next one is to go from desktop to mobile, with the development of a mobile app, also tailor-made. This is an investment that will expand the dimension of the platform even more, and will also bring a new definition to the concept of innovation.
Simultaneously, our Agency will continue the upgrade of the desktop app, always keeping track of the trends, making adjustments and introducing new features, every time that the course of life and the evolution of health and medicine require.
Creating this brand wasn’t just developing a simple platform; it was about creating the future. With this project, we can all have access to basic healthcare follow-up, from any place, with any device, at any time and on every day of the year.
