Last minute downloads and highlights are features in development on Facebook
The social network has not yet tested any of these options, but the introduction of the same in the code of the social network reveal that there is interest in taking them to its user base.
According to international media, Facebook may be about to debut two features that include an option to highlight posts with breaking news and a new way to send money to your contacts.
None of these features is being officially tested by the social network, but Matt Navarra, a contributor to The Next Web, came across these two new features while exploring the site’s code. Contacted by Recode to comment on the news, Facebook confirmed that both options will be part of a future test, however refusing to share more details about its operation.
Even without official information about these tools, the international press suggests that the first feature may help
more immediate and impactful way, highlighting these posts above other content and triggering a notification to their followers. This option may be used in case of urgent news, at the last minute, that needs to be communicated as soon as possible.
The money-sending system, which Facebook calls the “red envelope,” appears to have been developed to give other contacts, as is the case in Chinese culture during New Year celebrations, where older ones offer cash to the younger ones in red envelopes.
Remember that the social network already supports the sending of money in Messenger, but does not yet have a similar functionality on Facebook itself.
